The sun is dropping low, the air is soft, everything is slowing down and becoming quiet but still the dingo is completely alert, present, watching.
Earlier this year, I had a really beautiful encounter with a dingo in my local area. He was sitting just off the side of the road as I drove past and we locked eyes for a moment... Then he disappeared into the corn fields, he was weaving in and out, playing! I couldn’t help but smile.
That experience inspired me to begin a trilogy of dingoes, and Wongari is one of them. I am constantly motivated to bring a piece of our Australian land and wilderness into the home.. to keep that connection strong between us and the animals.
He is painted in oils on canvas and I tried very hard to reflect the intuitive and wild nature of the Australian dingo. Often misunderstood, they represent independence, instinct, and a connection to the land. There’s a quiet wisdom in them.
