Platypus in the creek

$950

Platypus on Timber

I really enjoyed painting this platypus piece, especially the water. Trying to capture that light coming through beneath the surface and the quiet movement underwater was probably my favourite part of the whole painting.

Platypus are such strange and beautiful little animals. They almost don’t look real when you see them swimming, so smooth and calm in the water, then awkward on the land. I wanted this piece to feel peaceful and natural, like a little hidden moment beneath the surface of an Australian creek.

Painted in oils directly onto timber, with the natural tones and grain of the wood becoming part of the artwork itself.

• Original oil painting
• Painted on timber
• One of a kind artwork
• Finished with varnish for protection
